Get started · For people new to crypto

You don't need to understand crypto to begin.
You just need to move.

Most people start with free Phantom miners and learn one step at a time. There's no quiz, no minimum, no rush. This page walks you through every step in plain English — at your pace.

Why people join

It's not about crypto. It's about your routine, your way.

Some people join to stay motivated. Some want accountability. Some enjoy the progression systems. Some simply like turning daily movement into something measurable and rewarding.

MoveQuest is designed for people already trying to improve themselves — walking more, training harder, building consistency, and participating in something bigger than a typical fitness app.

You don't have to be an athlete. You don't have to be technical. You don't need a goal or a coach. You just need to keep moving — the system handles the rest.

Built for all activity levels.
MoveQuest isn't designed only for athletes or gym enthusiasts. Walking more, building consistency, and improving over time are all part of the progression journey. Start where you are.
The basics

What you actually need to know.

Four terms. That's the whole vocabulary you need to follow along. Everything else is built on these.

01 · Wallet
Your account on the blockchain.
A wallet is how you connect to MoveQuest. It's like a username and password rolled into one — except you control it, not us. We never see your wallet's password.
02 · Token
A unit of digital value.
Tokens are what you can hold, send, or earn. Think of them like points that exist on a public ledger anyone can verify — including you.
03 · MQT
MoveQuest's token.
MQT is the token you earn by moving. Your miners produce it, your activity unlocks it, and your wallet holds it. It lives on the Avalanche blockchain.
04 · PoPA
Proof of Physical Activity.
PoPA is how MoveQuest verifies that you actually moved. Apple Health or Health Connect reports your steps, your phone signs the data, and the chain accepts it.

Your first 10 minutes

Seven steps from zero to first PoPA.

Take it one step at a time. There's no rush. If anything is unclear, the community is one click away — see the FAQ below.

01
Install MetaMask
MetaMask is the most widely-used crypto wallet. It works as a browser extension on your computer and as an app on your phone. It's the wallet most beginners start with — meaning whatever question you have, someone has answered it before.
Power user note: Avalanche's own wallet, Core, is also excellent and is optimized for the chain MoveQuest runs on. If you've used crypto wallets before, Core may be a better fit.
Get MetaMask
02
Create your wallet
MetaMask will give you a seed phrase — a list of 12 words. Write it down on paper and store it somewhere safe. This phrase is the only way to recover your wallet if you lose access. Treat it like cash.
Important: Never share your seed phrase with anyone — not even MoveQuest. We will never ask for it. Anyone who does is trying to steal from you.
03
Add a small amount of AVAX for gas
Avalanche transactions cost a few cents each, paid in AVAX (Avalanche's native token). For your first month of MoveQuest, you'll need maybe $5–$10 worth. The easiest way to get it is through a service like MoonPay or Coinbase, sent directly to your new wallet address.
Buy AVAX
04
Connect to MoveQuest
Open the MoveQuest app, click "Connect Wallet," and approve the connection in MetaMask. This doesn't move any money — it just lets MoveQuest read your wallet address so it knows where to send your miners.
05
Claim your free Phantom miners
You can claim up to 18 free Phantom miners at no cost. These are your starting mining capacity. You don't have to claim all 18 at once — they unlock progressively as you build your dock.
06
Connect Apple Health or Health Connect
MoveQuest reads your daily activity (steps, workouts, distance) through your phone's existing health app. You control what you share. We never see anything except the verified activity total.
07
Submit your first PoPA
Once you've moved enough for the day, tap "Submit." Your activity is signed by your phone, verified by the chain, and counted toward your daily mining. That's it. You're now earning MQT.
What happens next

After you submit, the system does the rest.

Once your PoPA is on-chain, the daily cycle takes over. Five stages, all triggered by your movement.

05
Grow participation

Relax — you're learning.

You don't need to master crypto overnight. Most users begin with free Phantom miners, learn step by step, and grow into the ecosystem over time. The goal isn't perfection. The goal is participation.

Common worries, answered

Things people ask before starting.

Real questions from real new users. We'd rather be direct than reassuring.

What if I lose my wallet?
If you wrote down your seed phrase (those 12 words from Step 02), you can restore your wallet on any device. If you didn't write it down, the wallet is gone permanently — and so is anything inside it. This is the single most important thing to get right when starting.
Can I lose money doing this?
You can start MoveQuest with zero dollars beyond a small amount for gas fees. You're not investing — you're earning by moving. The only money at risk is whatever AVAX you buy for gas, which is whatever amount you choose to put in.
Is this a scam?
A reasonable question to ask of any crypto project. MoveQuest's contracts are public and verifiable on the Avalanche blockchain — anyone can inspect them. There's no presale, no insider allocation, and no team that needs to dump tokens to make money. The system is built around real activity, not new investor money.
Do I need to be technical?
No. If you can install an app and tap a button, you can use MoveQuest. The technical parts run in the background. This page exists because we want non-technical people to feel welcome here.
What happens if I stop using it?
Nothing bad. Your miners stay in your wallet. Your MQT stays in your wallet. You just stop accumulating new MQT on the days you don't submit PoPA. You can pick up where you left off whenever.
How is my health data used?
MoveQuest only sees the activity totals you choose to submit. Your raw health data — heart rate, GPS, workout details — never leaves your phone. Apple Health and Health Connect handle the privacy controls; MoveQuest just receives the verified summary.
Stay safe

Four habits that protect you forever.

Crypto has scams. So does email, banking, and the rest of the internet. These four habits prevent almost all of them.

Never share your seed phrase
No one legitimate will ever ask for it. Not MoveQuest. Not customer support. Not "the team." Anyone who asks is trying to steal from you.
Never send funds to "support"
No legitimate project will ever ask you to send them MQT or AVAX. If someone DMs you claiming to be from the team and asking for funds, they're a scammer.
Always check the URL
Bookmark the real MoveQuest site once and use that bookmark. Fake sites with one-letter typos are the most common phishing trap in crypto.
When in doubt, ask first
If something feels off — a transaction prompt you don't understand, a message from a stranger, a link that looks slightly wrong — ask in the community before clicking. The cost of waiting is zero. The cost of clicking can be everything.
Ready to go deeper
When you're ready, the ecosystem path goes further.
Once you've claimed your miners, submitted PoPA a few times, and feel comfortable with the basics, the next path shows you how the mechanics connect — miners, dock, hatcheries, evolution, and how participation builds over time.
