Hatchery Holding Tank: Keeping MQT Farming Active
The Hatchery Holding Tank is now active, and we want to explain exactly what it does, why we added it, and how it benefits the entire MoveQuest community.
The purpose is simple: available Hatchery space should be utilized by people who are actively farming MQT.
What Happens When a Hatchery Card Matures?
Once a Hatchery card reaches maturity, it is no longer farming MQT.
From the date of maturity, you have 7 days to either renew the card or claim it.
If neither action is taken within those 7 days, the ecosystem will automatically move the matured card into the smart contract Holding Tank.
When this happens, nothing is lost. The card moves into the Holding Tank along with:
- Your original MQT deposit
- All MQT farmed by that card
The Holding Tank simply removes the inactive matured card from its Hatchery tier so that the space it was occupying can become available to another community member.
Why Is This Important?
Before the Holding Tank, a matured card could remain idle while continuing to occupy space within a Hatchery tier.
The card wasn't farming MQT anymore, but its position could prevent someone waiting in the Nest or a lower tier from moving into that available farming opportunity.
The Holding Tank changes that.
When an idle matured card is moved, its space becomes available for another eligible user to deposit MQT into that tier and begin actively farming.
This creates movement throughout the Hatchery rather than allowing inactive positions to prevent others from progressing.
What Can You Do From the Holding Tank?
Being moved to the Holding Tank does not take away your ability to renew or claim.
From the Holding Tank, you can still:
Renew into the same tier if space is available, renew into another tier that has available space, or claim your MQT to your wallet just as you would have from the Hatchery tier.
The difference is that while your matured card is sitting idle in the Holding Tank, it is not occupying active Hatchery capacity that another community member could be using to farm MQT.
Today's Hatchery Space Opening
As the Holding Tank process takes place today, a significant amount of Hatchery capacity will become available:
Tier 4 — 65,850 MQT
Tier 3 — 3,502 MQT
Tier 2 — 3,453 MQT
Tier 1 — 995 MQT
That means 73,800 MQT of Hatchery capacity will be opened for active use across Tiers 1–4.
Most significantly, 65,850 MQT of Tier 4 capacity will become available for eligible deposits coming from the Nest, Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3, as well as Tier 4 cards being renewed when space is available.
Built for an Active Ecosystem
MoveQuest was designed around participation.
Whether you're moving, mining or farming MQT, we want the available opportunities within the ecosystem to actually be utilized by the community.
The Holding Tank isn't designed to take anything away from a user. Your deposited MQT and farmed MQT remain yours.
It simply ensures that once a card has matured and its farming period has ended, an inactive position cannot indefinitely prevent another community member from accessing available Hatchery capacity.
Mature → Renew or Claim → 7 Days → Holding Tank → Space Opens → Another Card Can Farm
The more efficiently Hatchery capacity is utilized, the more opportunity there is for our active community to mine and farm the available MQT.
Keep moving. Keep mining. Keep farming. 🧡
