An Important Clarification: MoveQuest, MoveQuest Labs & Our Path Forward
As MoveQuest enters its next stage of growth, we want to take a moment to clarify several things for our entire community—our organizational structure, the role of MoveQuest Labs, the appointment of our CEO, community leadership, presentations, and the use of the MoveQuest brand.
Growth brings change. It also requires greater structure, consistency, and accountability.
Unfortunately, some recent language surrounding these changes has created the impression that there is now a “new MoveQuest administration,” separate from the existing MoveQuest community.
That is not an accurate representation of what has occurred.
MoveQuest Labs, LLC and MoveQuest Are Not the Same Thing
MoveQuest Labs, LLC is the business and development entity behind the MoveQuest ecosystem.
MoveQuest Labs provides the real-world organizational structure necessary to develop technology, manage operations, establish partnerships, protect our intellectual property and brand, coordinate marketing and outreach, support development, and make the business decisions required to continue building MoveQuest.
Like any company, MoveQuest Labs has a leadership structure.
MoveQuest is the ecosystem that MoveQuest Labs is building and supporting.
MoveQuest participants interact with the ecosystem using their own wallets and digital assets. MoveQuest Labs does not take custody of a participant's wallet solely because the participant participates in MoveQuest. Participants retain control of their own wallets and assets.
That distinction matters.
Corporate leadership of MoveQuest Labs is not a hierarchy over the MoveQuest community.
What CJ Becoming CEO Actually Means
The appointment of Ernest “CJ” Jackson as CEO did not replace an old MoveQuest administration with a new one.
We expanded our leadership.
Walid and Lynette remain actively involved in MoveQuest. The technology, development, and vision we have spent years building did not suddenly change hands.
CJ was brought into MoveQuest Labs, LLC as CEO to help take what has already been built into its next stage—bringing additional leadership, business development, marketing strategy, relationships, outreach, and opportunities to the project.
CJ is CEO of MoveQuest Labs, LLC.
That position carries real authority and responsibility within the company, and we expect our community to respect the role and the decisions made within that responsibility.
At the same time, being CEO of MoveQuest Labs does not mean being “CEO of the community.” It does not give CJ control over people's wallets, funds, or independently owned digital assets.
Those are two entirely different concepts.
CJ has corporate authority within his role. Participants maintain sovereignty over their own wallets and assets.
Both things can—and do—exist at the same time.
There Is No Competing MoveQuest Leadership Structure
Over the years, many people have stepped forward to educate, present, moderate, answer questions, build communities, and help MoveQuest grow. We appreciate those contributions.
But we need to clarify something as MoveQuest matures.
Being a community leader, presenter, coordinator, moderator, or educator does not make someone an officer of MoveQuest Labs, nor does it create an independent governing authority over MoveQuest or its participants.
There is no competing administration.
There is no “old leadership” that must coexist with a “new administration.”
And there should not be an “us versus them” relationship between community members and MoveQuest Labs.
There is one MoveQuest community.
People may have different roles within it, but no privately organized group, Zoom call, social channel, or independently operated event becomes an alternative governing body for MoveQuest.
A Very Important Clarification About Presentations
We also want to correct any misunderstanding regarding recent instructions surrounding MoveQuest presentations.
We have not told people that they cannot promote MoveQuest or use the MoveQuest brand.
Quite the opposite.
We want people proudly sharing MoveQuest.
What we have asked to stop is the creation and distribution of independently designed advertisements, presentations, graphics, and promotional materials that represent MoveQuest but do not follow the official MoveQuest brand, messaging, or approved materials.
As we prepare MoveQuest for a much larger audience, this matters tremendously.
One person should not be describing MoveQuest one way while another person describes it differently.
Our terminology should be consistent.
Our technology should be represented accurately.
Our branding should be recognizable.
Our claims should be supportable.
Our presentations should tell the same story.
That protects MoveQuest and everyone sharing it.
Official MoveQuest Presentations Are Temporarily Paused
To accomplish this properly, we have asked that presentations representing MoveQuest be temporarily paused while the approved presentations are completed and added to the Outreach Hub within the MoveQuest dashboard.
This is not an attempt to silence anyone.
It is not an attempt to take MoveQuest away from the community.
And it is certainly not a request to stop using official MoveQuest branding.
It is a request to stop presenting MoveQuest through individually created interpretations of our brand and message while we establish the approved materials everyone can use.
Once those resources are available in the Outreach Hub, the community will have professionally developed, current, and approved materials designed specifically for outreach.
Then, when someone discovers MoveQuest through a presentation in Michigan, California, Europe, Africa, Asia, or anywhere else in the world, they should encounter the same MoveQuest.
The same identity.
The same terminology.
The same fundamentals.
The same vision.
One brand. One message. One MoveQuest.
Independent Conversations Are Different From Representing MoveQuest
People are, of course, free to have private conversations, educational discussions, and community gatherings.
But there is an important distinction between talking about your personal experience with MoveQuest and presenting yourself or your materials as representing MoveQuest.
If you are presenting MoveQuest, we ask that you use the official MoveQuest presentation and approved MoveQuest materials.
If you are sharing an independent opinion or hosting an independent community discussion, it should be clearly identified as independent and not presented in a way that could reasonably lead someone to believe it is an official MoveQuest Labs presentation.
That distinction protects everyone.
Why We're Doing This Now
MoveQuest is no longer preparing to communicate only within the community that already knows us.
We're preparing for broader exposure.
That means potential users, businesses, athletes, influencers, strategic partners, and others may first encounter MoveQuest through something you share.
We get one opportunity to make that first impression.
As MoveQuest grows, professionalism and consistency become more important—not less.
Adding corporate leadership, establishing brand standards, creating approved presentations, and coordinating outreach are not signs that MoveQuest has abandoned decentralization.
They are signs that MoveQuest Labs is doing its job.
MoveQuest Labs builds, develops, protects, and supports the ecosystem.
Our CEO leads within the responsibilities of his corporate role.
Our development team builds the technology.
Our community participates in, supports, and shares the ecosystem.
And participants maintain control of their own wallets and assets.
Different responsibilities do not require competing factions.
Where We Go From Here
Change can sometimes be uncomfortable, particularly for people who have invested significant time helping something grow.
We respect that.
But growth cannot mean that MoveQuest must remain exactly as it was simply because that is what some of us became accustomed to.
We are going to add people.
We are going to add leadership.
We are going to improve our branding.
We are going to professionalize our presentations.
We are going to improve how we communicate.
We will correct outdated messaging when necessary.
And we are going to make decisions based upon what we believe gives MoveQuest the greatest opportunity to succeed.
None of that diminishes the people who helped us reach this point.
There is room for everyone who genuinely wants to help MoveQuest succeed.
What there isn't room for is confusion about who represents the company, competing narratives about decisions made, or division between the community and the people responsible for building and growing the ecosystem.
MoveQuest Labs is not replacing the MoveQuest community. CJ is not replacing the MoveQuest community. And growth is not erasing MoveQuest's history.
We are building on it.
MoveQuest Labs builds and supports. MoveQuest provides the ecosystem. Our community brings it to life. You control your wallet and your assets.
And as we enter this next chapter:
One community. One brand. One message. One MoveQuest.
